Riot Fest 2022"My Chemical Romance",

The Misfits Walk Among Us and so do Ice Cube, Yellowcard, Bauhaus, and Portugal. The Man at this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago

The three-night event, which will take place in Chicago’s Douglass Park from Sept. 16 to the 18, will also feature first-time appearances by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bauhaus, Portugal the Man, Yungblud, Placebo, the Linda Lindas, and more. And during their Saturday set, the Original Misfits will perform their debut Walk Among Us, which turned 40 this year. Band members Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein started using that moniker in 2016 when they reunited to play Riot Fest. Yellowcard will reunite to perform their sole 2022 show at the fest.

Ice Cube, Jimmy Eat World, the Front Bottoms, and the Wonder Years are also among the 85 acts that will play across the five stages throughout the weekend.

Nine Inch Nails was previously set to headline last year’s fest but dropped out after canceling all of their 2021 tour dates. Slipknot later took over the time slot. At the time, the festival also announced My Chemical Romance as the 2022 headliner.

Tickets for Riot Fest are on sale now, including single-day and full weekend passes.

Riot Fest on Wednesday announced its lineup for 2022, with headliners Nine Inch Nails joining the previously announced My Chemical Romance and Original Misfits over three days in September in Chicago’s Douglass Park. On Saturday, the Original Misfits will perform their debut “Walk Among Us,” which turned 40 this year. Notable first-timers include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bauhaus and a reunited Sunny Day Real Estate.

Slated for Sept. 16-18 in Douglass Park (1401 S. Sacramento Drive), the proudly independent music festival founded in 2005 is now in its 17th year, with carnival rides, vendors, food and concessions joining the musical lineup. Riot Fest tickets (1-Day, 2-Day, and 3-Day passes, general admission through Ultimate) are on sale 10 a.m. May 11.

Riot Fest will return to Chicago’s Douglass Park this September 16-18, and the lineup rules. Headliners this year include My Chemical Romance on Friday and Nine Inch Nails on Sunday, both of whom were set to play the fest in recent years but postponed due to COVID. In between on Saturday will be the Original Misfits (the version of the band with Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, and Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein) performing their debut album Walk Among Us for its 40th anniversary. Those are three great headliners, but the riches extend far beyond the headliner level.

Emo superheroes Sunny Day Real Estate will stage their latest reunion at Riot Fest, playing their first set in 12 years. Other reunion sets include Yellowcard (their sole 2022 show), The Academy Is…, and Midtown. Some more highlights: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bauhaus, Jeff Rosenstock, Sleater-Kinney, Ice Cube, Descendents, Yungblud, Bad Religion, Jimmy Eat World, Madball, Action Bronson, 7 Seconds, Cloud Nothings, Alkaline Trio, the Get Up Kids, Portugal. The Man, Placebo, the Linda Lindas, Bully, Jawbox, the Front Bottoms, Bleachers, Rocket From The Crypt, Algiers, the Wonder Years, Less Than Jake, Mannequin Pussy, the Menzingers, THICK, Alice Glass, Chastity… the list goes on. It’s an impressive list.

Since 2005, Riot Fest has been the place to see punk rock luminaries get the band together and play a show for thousands of fans. Their idiosyncratic lineups, which marry classic punk, pop-punk, emo, hardcore, and some industrial, rap, and pop for good measure, is one of the few places you’ll see Bauhaus share the stage with Yellowcard. This year’s no exception as Bauhaus and Yellowcard are but two of the acts making their way to the Windy City for another Riot Fest.

Running from September 16 to September 18 in Chicago, Riot Fest will host more than 100 acts across five stages. Leading the charge, My Chemical Romance will headline Friday; The Misfits performing their classic debut, Walk Among Us, on Saturday; and Nine Inch Nails will close out the fest on Sunday.

But wait, there’s more! Indie rock legends Yeah Yeah Yeahs, goth legends Bauhaus, and emo legends Sunny Day Real Estate will make their Riot Fest debut this year. Sure, an SDRE reunion sounds cool, but what if aging millennials want to relieve their Y2K pop-punk glory days. Well, you’re in luck. Yellowcard, The Academy Is…, and Midtown will all reunite at Riot Fest too.

And that’s barely half of it. Portugal. The Man, Placebo, Jeff Rosenstock, Descendents, Ice Cube, Action Bronson, Alkaline Trio, and Bad Religion are also set to play. So if you haven’t found something you like, just look a little harder.

1-Day, 2-Day, 3-Day passes go on sale at RiotFest.org this morning at 10 a.m. CST
